Senior Graduation

We all understand that the traditional events and graduations to celebrate high school seniors look very different this year. However, at Avon Grove Charter School, we will do our best to celebrate this monumental occasion. Setting new traditions around social distancing will be the priority to celebrate the Class of 2020.

The senior class voted on the following three formats for their graduation ceremony:

  • Outdoor graduation ceremony with strict safety protocols.

  • Mini Graduations with 10 people or less at a time, who are socially distanced, where graduates can receive his or her diploma.

  • Drive-in Graduation Ceremony where students drive to a designated location.

We are asking our families with graduating seniors to keep the week of July 13, 2020, open for one of these options to take place. The decision on the specific graduation format will be made on June 1, 2020.

In the meantime, the following AGCS high school senior tributes will take place:

  • Senior Spotlight Social Media Post. (Highlights 3 student graduates per day started on 4/23)

  • Parade of Graduates - AGCS Class of 2020 - Faces of Success flags on the State Road front lawn.

  • Project Graduation is a yearly tradition at AGCS. High school senior homes are decorated by administrators with lawn signs and a special gift. We will continue this tradition the week of May 18th while practicing social distancing. This year every graduate will be given their cap, gown, and AGCS stole on a hanger to hang on their door to give them the recognition they deserve.

  • Light up the Night for AGCS Graduates. The school and the AGCS community will light up their homes with blue and gold lights to celebrate graduates the week of 5/31.

  • Senior Final Goodbye Day-Seniors will decorate their car and drive through the school parking lot one last time on 6/5.

  • The decision for prom will be announced with graduation on June 1st. Prom will take place for seniors after graduation in July or be rescheduled during the Thanksgiving or Winter Break.

We are excited that these events will create lifelong memories for our senior Class of 2020; memories they will never forget!

Thank you and stay healthy,

Kristen Bishop, Bryan Brutto, and Blase Maitland
