Financial Aid and Scholarships

MAKE SURE TO COMPLETE YOUR FAFSA FORM!

If you are the parent of a college, community college, or technical/trade school bound student, it is important you fill out the FAFSA form, even if you don't believe you will qualify for any federal aid.

To apply for the FAFSA, you may use last year's tax information to fill out estimates, and then later you can go in and update that information. Here are the steps to fill out the FAFSA any time after January 1:

Step 1  Go to the FAFSA website (do not go to www.fafsa.COM, this is a website where you pay for the FAFSA. Go to www.fafsa.ed.GOV)

Step 2  Apply for PIN number. Both the student and parent need separate PIN numbers. These pin numbers act as your electronic signature.

Step 3  Fill out the FAFSA by clicking "Start Here” on the www.fafsa.ed.gov website. Towards the end of the form, you will be able to fill out the schools that the student is applying to and FAFSA will forward your financial information to them.

Step 4  Once finished, you will be provided for a link to Pennsylvania's grant website. (PHEAA) Click the provided link and fill out that form.

Step 5  (Not always a required step) If your schools require the CSS Profile, you will also need to fill that out. You can find out if your school requires it by going to the college's financial aid page.
