Hello AGCS Families!

It is that time of year again for Avon Grove Charter School to participate in the International Basket Brigade. For the past ten years, AGCS – Early Learning Center has participated in this very meaningful program, providing “Thanksgiving Dinner in a Basket” to many families in need.

The International Basket Brigade is built on the following simple notion: one small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds.
This initiative that began more than 30 years ago as one person’s individual effort to feed families in need, has now grown into the Anthony Robbins Foundation's International Basket Brigade. The program provides baskets of food and household items for an estimated 2 million people annually in countries all over the world. Throughout the year, International Basket Brigade volunteers deliver food, clothing, and hope to those who need it most.

Each classroom will be collecting items to fill a Thanksgiving basket. These baskets will be delivered to families in our local communities. In the next few days, your children will bring home a slip of paper listing the item that they're being asked to donate to the basket. Participation in the Basket Brigade is strictly voluntary. If you are not able to donate an item at this time, we understand and there is no obligation to do so.

In addition to the items being assigned to each of the students, we are asking for donations of the following items below to complete the basket.

  • We would like for each basket to have a minimum of one $15.00 (or more) gift card to a local grocery store to offset the cost of the family purchasing a turkey, or to purchase a large turkey breast. This has not been assigned to any student since it is quite a bit more than the cost of a box of instant potatoes or a can of green beans.
  • We also need a donation of the ACTUAL basket in which the food items will be placed. We have found over the years that plastic laundry baskets work best, and are greatly appreciated.

Please have all donations turned in to your child’s classroom teacher by Monday, November 19th.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call and I will be happy to discuss this with you.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this wonderful program to help many families in need this Thanksgiving season.

Kind regards,
Jessica Imburgia
